Q&A with L’Officiel Cover Model Iro Dimitropoulou

Iro Dimitropoulou is a Greek model, actress and entrepreneur. She recently starred on the world-renowned cover of L’Officiel Arabia magazine. We had a chance to ask her seven questions about this amazing experience!
Dora rodriguez: Hello, Iro. Thank you so much for joining me today! Congratulations on landing such a huge print cover, recently. So tell me, how was it shooting the cover of L’Officiel Arabia magazine?
Iro Dimitropoulou: Thank you! Shooting for the cover for L’Officiel Arabia was an amazing experience. I’m really happy L’Officiel chose me to grace their cover, and what makes it even more excting is that I was told I was the first Greek model to be on this specific cover!
DR: Wow! That makes it an even bigger accomplishment! I believe people don’t realize how much work goes into modeling, so I’m sure our readers want to know how long the shoot was…
ID: Yes, that’s true! In this case, the photoshoot took about half a day to complete. It helped that I had a great team, including an amazing stylist, make-up artist, and of course, a great photographer. I really enjoyed it, we were “a winning time,” and very productive.
DR: I’m so happy to hear that! Where did the photoshoot take place?
ID: The shoot took place at the Four Seasons hotel in the “Greek Riviera,” which is located in the south side of Athens, Greece.
DR: I saw the photos in the magazine. Wow, it looked like a dream! Did you get to have a say in the wardrobe at all, or did the magazine take over the creative direction?
ID: That’s a good question. Actually, the creative direction came from both sides. Of course, I’m very cooperative, but I also have a big understanding about what suits me best, considering my body type, etc., so I’m a little particular when it comes to what I would like the world to see me wearing. In this case, we were all in agreement, so we had a great collaboration.
DR: That’s nice to hear, since I know sometimes models really don’t have a say on styling when it comes to shooting for big magazines. Which were your favorite wardrobe pieces from the shoot?
ID: My absolute favorite wardrobe piece was the Missoni set, it’s the one I’m wearing on the cover picture. I also really liked the Bottega Veneta blue dress, with which I jumped in the pool, at the end of the shoot, in order to have close-up shoots. I must say, it was kind of chilly too, it was 9 C degrees… haha!
DR: Oh my! Now that’s what I call being motivated for your craft!
ID: Haha! Yes, it was very funny when I jumped in the pool with the Bottega Veneta dress for the close-up shot, because I jumped in so quickly everybody was shocked, and I must say, I would definitely do it again! I really wanted to give it my all, my best and I’m told that I really did, so we were all happy in the end!
DR: Amazing! Good for you. In addition to being an accomplished model, you are also an entrepreneur. Can you tell me a bit about that?
IR: Yes! I own a skincare brand called Iro Cosmetics. I was always fascinated with beauty and skincare and wanted to help people with their skin matters, so my business partner and I have started the cosmetic line @irocosmetics which is already being sold in the United Kingdom with locations in Oxford Street!
